Many deserve credit for uptown beautification
To the editor:
I see where Tom and I were nominated as Citizens of the Week by Ellen Pennington for taking care of the uptown flowers.
We sincerely appreciate the nomination, but we are just a small part of the beautification of the uptown. Tom and I are just the helpers.
It has totally been through the efforts of Alice and Mark Wilson, Karen and Rick Cundiff that this all became a reality.
Without the donations Alice collected to purchase the flowers, it wouldn't have happened.
Alice, Karen, Lori Gunderman and I planted the flowers and truly had a good time playing in the dirt and seeing the uptown come alive.
The daily watering of the flowers had to be tackled and Tom met with Jeremy Ratcliffe, Supervisor for the Community Service workers.
The weekly watering became a project for the Community Service workers.
Alice and Mark Wilson and Tom and I did weekend watering until Alice found a couple who wanted to do it.
It has taken a group of people not just us. They need to be need to be recognized as well as the money contributors who provided the funding for the flowers.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Maggi Horst
