Help Me Grow, sponsors assist 81 children in annual 'Adopt-A-Family' project

To the editor:

Highland County Help Me Grow had another successful "Adopt-A-Family" project for the eighth consecutive year. It was a difficult year for many, due to the economy. We were concerned that we could not provide Christmas for as many as we have in the past. However, thanks to the generosity of the below named sponsors, we were able to assist 81 children this past year in having Christmas presents under their trees. Through the collaborative efforts of Highland County Help Me Grow and sponsors, children enrolled in the program and their siblings received Christmas gifts as well as gift cards for some families to purchase groceries.

Sponsors included:

• Fall Creek Friends Church in Hillsboro;
• NCB Bank in Hillsboro;
• Southern State Community College/The Patri-Tots Learning Center;
• St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro;
• Highland County Health Department staff;
• Y-Gradale;
• Dr. Mesina;
• Mr. Shane Wilkin and family;
• Mr. Rick Matthews and family;
• Christian Science Society;
• Corner Pharmacy;
• Alternatives to Violence;
• Mt. Washington Church of Christ;
• Newman Insurance;
• Hopewell Region 14.

The Help Me Grow program offers health and developmental services so that children start school healthy and ready to learn. The program is voluntary and free to referred infants and toddlers from birth to 3 years. Services are designed with a family's concerns and goals in mind. Referrals may be faxed to (937) 840-0101. Referrals may also be made by calling Pat Moore, administrative assistant and Central Intake Coordinator, at (937) 840-0100 or toll-free at 1-888-734-7235.

Thanks to all of you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Heather Gibson
