LCHS wins by 11 runs against Manchester

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs baseball team defeated the visiting Manchester Greyhounds by a 12-1 score in five innings to force a run-rule Tuesday night at LCHS.

The Mustangs (3-6) led 4-1 after the first inning and 5-1 after the second inning. The Mustangs scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning, then added two runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the fifth inning for their 12-run total.

Manchester finished with four hits and two errors, while LCHS collected 12 hits and committed no errors.

Josiah Burns finished 4-for-4 with three runs, five RBI, a triple, a home run and a steal.

Cole Wells finished 2-for-3 at the plate with one run, two RBI and one of his hits was a double. Luke Smith ended the game 2-for-3 with a run, two RBI and one of his hits was a triple.

Austin Bell was 1-for-2 with two runs, one walk, a double and a steal. Cody Bell finished the day 2-for-3 with one run and a walk.

Brayden Oberrecht scored a run and walked. Asher Faust went 2-for-2 with two runs and a walk.

Cole Wells was the winning pitcher, pitching four innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and a walk. He totaled seven strikeouts, throwing 59 pitches, 37 for strikes, all while facing 17 batters.

Oberrecht pitched one inning, allowing no runs on no hits and a walk. He threw 11 pitches, five for strikes, facing three batters.

The Mustangs now stand at 3-6 overall.
