Lady Indians fall to Wheelersburg

The Hillsboro Lady Indians softball team suffered their first loss of the ‘23 season Tuesday as they fell to the host Wheelersburg Lady Pirates, 10-1 in non-conference play.

Hillsboro scored their lone run in the top of the fourth inning with a home run by Camryn Spruell. She finished the game 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Spruell also was charged with the pitching loss, facing 28 batters in five innings. She finished with five strikeouts with seven earned runs allowed. 

Also with hits for HHS were Halle Reveal (1-for-3) and Hannah Burton (1-for-3, a double). Isabelle Brunck finished with two walks. 

Wheelersburg scored one run in the bottom of the first, then added two runs in the third, one run in the fourth, one run in the fifth and five runs in the sixth inning. 

The loss moves Hillsboro to 3-1 overall.

Next for HHS is a non-conference game against the London Lady Red Raiders on Thursday, March 30 at 5 p.m.
