Have we reached a tipping point on truth?

Lead Summary

Taking the long view, there have been some interesting developments lately that give a faint hope that truth may swing back into fashion on the national and international levels. There is the matter of Hunter Biden’s laptop computer. It is not disinformation; it is a fact, and appropriate legal bodies have finally told us this is so.

The New York Times and the Washington Post have not admitted this yet, and that failure to be forthright appears to be to their detriment.

The UN kicked Russia off the Human Right Council (how about China?). Then, there is Elon Musk’s bid to take over Twitter. I hope he prevails. He says he believes in free speech, and he has the money to make it happen. You are a quirky guy, Elon, but you are right on this one.

It just shows how right you are that the left and the Twitter board are doing everything they can to stop you.

The Republican National Committee has voted to withdraw from the Commission on Presidential Debates, stating the commission is “biased and has refused to enact simple and common-sense reforms to help ensure fair debates, including hosting debates before voting begins and selecting moderators who have never worked for candidates on the debate stage.”

They can only be criticized for not having done this four or five election cycles ago.

I have always said, that when it comes to individuals, they can only fake it so long. Eventually, their true self comes out. Same holds true of institutions. We have suffered through many duplicitous pronouncements in recent years from many sources. It is time to question them and dismiss the ones spreading the falsehoods.

We have many issues to go, but a few breakthroughs may cause those who have been blindly believing texts under certain brand names, to start to doubt other items, too. Isn’t that the way it works? If you catch someone lying to you, aren’t you a bit doubtful of other things coming from the same or similar institutions?

Currently, climate change and carbon reduction are huge topics. There are certainly people and institutions with the motivation to lie to us about these matters. Are they lying to us? Hard to tell. However, someday, like Hunter’s laptop, the truth will be known.

People with a platform or loudspeaker need to be held to a higher standard than those who do not have such advantages. The world is a better place when our leaders, be they political, entertainment, educational or something else, tell us the truth. We live in a world today much different than the one in the past, even the one of just 50 years ago.

It is inexpensive to be on the international stage today. Modern communications have made reaching the other side of the world very, very cheap. For those who do so, they should be held to account. In this country, it seems, on a widespread basis that the truth is coming out. The latest polls have Biden’s approval rating at 33%. It would be great if only Biden voters suffered for their mistake, but that is not the way the system works.

We all suffer through higher gas prices, more expensive food and other inflationary pressures. Some military and other families have suffered personal tragedies due to his foreign policies.

May the truth prevail.
