James 'Jim' Richard Williams
James “Jim” Richard Williams, 86, of Stow, formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023.
He was born July 4, 1937, in Dodsonville, the son of the late Harley and Mary (Freeman) Williams.
Jim spent his life in the Lynchburg area and attended Lynchburg High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving two tours of duty in Germany. Growing up, he enjoyed working with Richard Hawk on their family farms, and he retired from General Electric after 28 years.
He was a member of the Blanchester Church of Christ, the Blanchester Senior Citizens Center and the First Christian Church of Stow. Jim enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, farming and gardening, and he was a serious euchre player. He loved his family, and he will be deeply missed.
Jim is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dixie Williams, whom he married Sept. 2, 1978 in Greenfield; five children, Russell Williams of Wilmington, Linda Custis of Greenfield, Diann Williams of Lexington, Ky., Angel Skinner of Leesburg and Amanda (Sean) Donnelly of Cuyahoga Falls; a sister, Mary Kelley of Kentucky; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn Williams, Clarence Williams, Dale Williams and infant Christopher Williams.
Gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 from 11 a.m. until noon at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Celebration of Jim’s life will take place Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 at noon at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Hillsboro.
