James 'Jim' R. Tener Jr.

James “Jim” R. Tener Jr., 83, of the Pricetown community, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 16, 1940, in Highland County, the son of the late James R. Tener Sr. and Blanche (Sellman) Tener.

Jim worked as an electrical lineman for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member of the IBEW Local 71 Union and of the United Church of God in Milford.

He enjoyed taking his dogs on walks, reading anything he could get his hands on and listening to country and bluegrass music. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Linda (Brian) Hampton of Pricetown; three grandchildren, Andy Hoskins of Goshen, Brian Hampton Jr. of Pricetown and Lindsay Hampton of Pricetown; two great-grandchildren, Skyler Hoskins of Leesburg and Landyn Hoskins of Leesburg; a sister, Carolyn Burkard of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Paulette Tener, on Aug. 3, 2003; a daughter, Lisa Hoskins; four siblings, Richard “Dick” Tener, Donald “Boss” Tener, John Tener, and Edward “Eddie” Tener; three nephews, Russell “Rusty” Tener, Robbie Tener and Christopher Cooper; and niece, Rebecca “Becky” Crouse.

In accordance with Jim’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
