Whiteoak drops sectional final game to Notre Dame

The Whiteoak Wildcats had their season ended on Friday (Feb. 24) in their Division IV SE District sectional final game at Portsmouth Notre Dame, falling by a score of 50-41 at NDHS.
Whiteoak trailed 12-8 at the end of the first quarter where Carson Emery totaled four points in the frame off two baskets, while Luken Roades and Landon Barnett each scored two points as each player made a basket.
WHS outscored the Titans 13-9 in the second quarter, as Emery and Barnett each made a 3-pointer and two-point basket. Roades also chipped in with a 3-pointer in the same quarter, leaving the score tied at 21-21.
The Titans outscored the Wildcats 15-10 in the third quarter with Barnett sinking a 3-pointer and two-point basket, while Emery made two baskets for four points, and Evan DeAtley made one free throw, as Notre Dame led 36-31.
Notre Dame won the fourth frame 14-10, winning the game by nine points.
In the fourth quarter, Whiteoak had a 3-pointer from Zander Roades and two points each from Emery, Barnett and Linus Wik, plus one point from Luken Roades.
Emery led Whiteoak with 15 points, followed by Barnett with 14 points. Also for WHS, final scoring included Luken Roades with six points, Zander Roades with three points, Wik with two points and DeAtley with one point.
As a team, Whiteoak totaled 11 two-point baskets, five 3-pointers (Barnett 2, Emery 1, Luken Roades 1), and they were 4-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Cody Metzler led NDHS with 19 points.
Seniors for WHS are Landon Barnett, Evan DeAtley, Carson Emery, David Kennedy and Luken Roades.
Whiteoak ends the season at 11-12 overall, as they were 7-6 in the SHAC Division II standings.
