Lady ’Cats fall to Waterford in district semis

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats had their season ended on Thursday evening, falling in the Division IV SE District semifinals to the Waterford Lady Wildcats, 40-16 at Wellston High School.

Waterford controlled the game from start to finish with a 23-13 halftime lead with a 15-6 first quarter, and following a 8-7 second quarter (led by Waterford), they held a 10-point halftime lead.

The game got away from Whiteoak in the second half, scoring three points in the third, then being held scoreless in the fourth quarter. Waterford scored 20 points in the third quarter and seven points in the fourth frame.

Leading Whiteoak in scoring was Bri Hill with six points, followed by Jaylie Parr with five points, Molly McMullen with three points and Addison Roberts with two points.

This season, the Lady ’Cats finished with their best record in nearly two decades at 14-10 overall, as they won a Southern Hills Athletic Conference Division II co-championship (shared with Peebles) and a sectional championship for the first time since 2007.

The lone senior for Whiteoak was Brooklynne Campbell.
