The Highland County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual meeting and dinner on Thursday, May 7, at The Barn at Hidden Ridge located in Hillsboro.

James A. Byrd, 83, of Fairfield Township, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.  

The Lynchburg and Lynchburg-Clay High School Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, June 13, at the Lynchburg-Clay Elementary School south of Dodsonville.

The message to U.S. citizenry is to give "back to their country, which provides them so much freedom and opportunity" by encouraging Memorial Day activities. The commission also endorsed a National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. local time each Memorial Day, a minute of silence for those who have died in service to the nation.

The Environmental Protection Agency is slashing some regulations on refrigerants finalized in the Biden-era in an effort it says will reduce grocery costs for Americans and compliance costs for businesses. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said the move would save American families more than $2.4 billion.

The Lynchburg Memorial Day event will commence Sunday, May 24 at the Old School Park with parade lineup at noon. Weather pending, a parade will proceed to the cemetery at around 12:30 p.m. that will include civic groups and bagpipes.

The former executive director of the Richland County Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services (RCMH) was found guilty Thursday of seven criminal counts following an investigation by the Auditor of State’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) into improper contracting.
