A final pretrial was held Wednesday in Highland County Common Pleas Court – the last locally scheduled proceeding that will take place prior to his second trial on charges of murder.
Also on Wednesday, the Highland County Board of Commissioners reviewed a correspondence from Coss regarding the costs of the trial.

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) today released the Ohio Bed Bug Workgroup report. Workgroup members from a diverse group of professional backgrounds and perspectives, including pest management, housing, government, and public health worked together to develop 10 recommendations which outline strategies that will assist future bed bug prevention and control efforts.
Coburn charged with assault
On Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 12:13 a.m., Vernon D. Coburn, 55, of Hillsboro, was taken into custody at his residence on Millers Chapel Road.

Wee Care Preschool helps military troops
The children of Wee Care Preschool began the New Year with thoughts of people all over the world; realizing the New Year symbolizes the beginning of a better tomorrow. With these thoughts in mind the children and staff are making greetings cards for "Totally for Troops."  This is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing greetings cards to deployed service men and women, who in turn are able to personalize the cards and mail them home to family and loved ones.

The McClain Lady Tigers broke a tied score with under two minutes remaining and never looked back, defeating the Zane Trace Lady Pioneers, 51-42 Tuesday night at McClain High School.
Lions blast away from Rockets for 1st win of season
Things got back to normal for the Fairfield Lions Tuesday night at Grandle Gymnasium. Headed into the Southern Hills League contest winless on the year, all of that was tossed aside after 32 minutes of basketball with the Lions gaining win No. 1 of the year, defeating the Fayetteville Rockets, 65-51.
