There were a couple of new football coaches in the SCOL this season. Jim “Tate” Taylor had stepped down, at Hillsboro, and long-time assistant coach Jim Horne had been elevated to the head coaching position. Horne enjoyed a rather harmonious relationship with the athletes, as did his predecessor. But he would be faced with a challenge, as this year’s team would be led by a freshman quarterback, Chris Walker.

Former Ohio Senate President Doug White of Manchester will serve as a member of the Ohio Expositions Commission for a term beginning Feb. 24, 2011 and ending Dec. 1, 2016.

Heavy rains through the late evening Thursday and early morning Friday have led to one local school delay and several reports of high water. The Lynchburg-Clay Schools were on a one-hour delay due to areas of high water.

Neal Alan Cook, 58, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family.

This time the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs' game at Waverly will be a little tougher than their Division III SE District Sectional opener.

James D. (Jimmy) Bowman, 71, of Mowrystown, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 at the Mercy Hospital Anderson.
