The Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc. announces the sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program for Children. Free meals will be made available to all children 18 years of age and under or persons over 18 who are determined by a state or local public educational agency to be mentally or physically disabled.

The Brush and Palette Art Guild will celebrate its 54th year June 18 and 19, 1-6 p.m. at the Central Campus of Southern State Community College, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Guild has been told this is one of the best shows in southwest Ohio.

Ohio's unemployment rate was 8.6 percent in April, down from 8.9 percent in March, according to data released this morning by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). Ohio's nonfarm wage and salary employment increased 8,600 over the month, from the revised 5,087,900 in March to 5,096,500 in April.

The Fairfield Lady Lions are back atop the Southern Hills League. After a one-year hiatus as Division II champions, Fairfield head coach Matthew Zimmerman told his team, "Ladies, you are now the 2011 Southern Hills League champions."
