PACCAR Medical Education Center sets record
More than 1,200 medical professionals last year took advantage of educational programs at the PACCAR Medical Education Center – a record for the facility, which is becoming a destination for health care professionals.
Altogether, 38 events were held and 3,000 hours of credit were awarded inside the center, which opened its door in 2008 on the campus of the Adena Medical Center.
“Our current state is strong and we intend to get better,” said Gail Games, Vice President of Education and Development at Adena, who described last year’s activities as “a great success.”
The center’s state-of-the-art conference facility combined with the availability of patient simulators and live broadcasting is helping to promote the facility, said Monica Copp, Clinical Graduate Student Coordinator at PACCAR.
“We also collaborate with VA hospital and community services, such as Easter Seals and the Pioneer Center,” she added.

In 2010, 1,068 health care professionals attended programs at PACCAR and received 2,104 credit hours. A total of 43 events were held.
PACCAR officials are hoping the center can become more self-sufficient in coming years, reducing the amount of money spent by the Adena Health System to operate the facility.
By introducing more programs and attracting more health care professionals from south-central Ohio and beyond, that’s a real possibility, said Michelle Roble, Director of Education and Development at PACCAR.
Meanwhile, hundreds of students already rely upon PACCAR for college-level studies.
Since the center was opened four years ago, Ohio Christian University, Ohio University – Chillicothe, Southern State Community College and Wright State University have offered educational programs there.
