Tribe splits weekend games

This past weekend the Hillsboro split recent games, defeating the Washington Blue Lions, 62-55 for a Southern Hills League win Friday night but falling to the Goshen Warriors, 63-49 on Saturday.
In their SCOL game at Hillsboro High School, the Indians led 18-16 after the first quarter and 36-28 at halftime.
Once the third-quarter buzzer sounded, the Indians led 51-43.
Leading the way for HHS was Chase Gilliland with a team-high 19 points. Eli Hogsett followed with 12 points, and Tyrand Cumberland scored 11.
Also scoring for HHS were Aric Carroll (9), Jarrod Hart (6) and Dow Kiefer (5).
HHS made 12 two-point baskets and nine 3-pointers. The Indians were 11-of-13 from the free-throw line.
For the Blue Lions, Kyle Slone scored a game-high 20 points. Laike Wallace netted 14 points and Julian Wyatt scored 12 points. WCH made 20 two-point baskets and three 3-pointers. WCH was 6-of-11 from the free-throw line.
On Saturday, HHS fell to Goshen 63-49 at GHS.
After the first frame, GHS led 9-4, but took a 21-12 halftime lead. After the third frame, GHS led 47-26.
Leading HHS was Carroll with 11 points, followed by Devante Ames with 10. Cumberland, Hogsett and Kiefer each scored six points. Gilliland finished with five points, and Hart had three points. Caleb Wilson scored two points.
