Tigers host 13th annual McClain Invitational

GREENFIELD — The 13th annual McClain Track Invitational was held Friday, April 29, with Circleville being crowned champion in the boys and Zane Trace taking the top spot for the girls.
The McClain boys had a solid meet, finishing in second place, and the Hillsboro boys took third place.
Circleville senior Dravin Bass was crowned boys meet medalist after winning three individual events and finishing second in his other. In the boys meet, the Tigers were event runners-up, while Hillsboro followed in third place. The Lady Tigers team finished sixth, while the Lady Indians were eighth overall.
“I was very pleased with our boys coming in second behind Circleville, the meet champions,” McClain boys track head coach Bob Bergstrom said.
The McClain girls, despite finishing in sixth place ,had some outstanding individual performances, led by co-meet medalist senior Jhaela Coleman and sophomore Chayden Pitzer.
Winning the boys event was Circleville with 147.33 points, while Zane Trace won the girls meet with 141.5 points.
“I would like to thank Jett’s Pro Embroidery and McDonald’s of Greenfield for sponsoring our invitational again this year. They have been loyal supporters of ours for the past 13 years, and we appreciate all they do very much,” Bergstrom said. “I would also like to thank all of my volunteers. Some of them have been with me over the entire 13 years, too.
“My coaches all chip in and do a great job of organizing and getting everything ready to go, which I thought made this year’s event one of the best we’ve ever had. We had some outstanding athletes, which made for a very competitive meet, both boys and girls. Everyone who attended had to be amazed at how good they were.”
