State Bound: Hillsboro’s Kristin Jamieson qualifies for Div. I Golf Tournament

Hillsboro sophomore Kristin Jamieson added her name to the list of Lady Indian athletes to become a state qualifier on Tuesday afternoon at The Links at Groveport.
The sophomore qualified for the Division I State Girls Golf Tournament by earning the third-lowest score of the Division I Central District Tournament with a score of 75 and was the second individual of three to earn their way to state. It is believed Jamieson is the first HHS girls golfer to qualify for state.
In Jamieson’s score of 75, she shot a 37 on the first nine holes she played and followed that with a 38 on the final nine holes for the third-place individual finish out of 54 total golfers. Out of the 54 golfers, just nine shot 79 or lower. She also had three birdies on the day.
"Kristin was pretty amazing at districts," Hillsboro head coach David Hilliard told The Highland County Press. "I followed her group all day and she played great. She rose to a different level, and played as well as I've seen her play all year long.
"Her chipping was phenomenal. It was exciting to watch and she's pumped to be going to state. She puts in a lot of practice, and deserves to be going to state."

The winner of the district tournament was Olentangy freshman Leila Raines with a score of 72, and in second place was Olentangy Orange sophomore Ashley Au at 74.
Raines, Jamieson and Lauren Conley, a Pickerington North senior (who won a playoff hole), were the three individual qualifiers.
The tournament run of Jamieson began last week in the Division I Sectionals at the Westchester Golf Course, where she was ninth with a score of 80.
Qualifying from the Central District as a team were Olentangy Orange (327), Dublin Jerome (330) and Upper Arlington (331).
This season, Jamieson was a part of the South Central Ohio League champion Hillsboro team that went 14-1 in league play and were 18-1 in the regular season. In the SCOL match at Buckeye Hills, Jamieson shot a 36 in nine holes, being the medalist in the event.
The 2016 Division I Girls State Golf Tournament will be held at The Ohio State University Gray Course in Columbus on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22. Tee times will be announced.
