Rothwell wins Ambassador Classic

XENIA — Saturday's Ambassador Cross-Country meet belonged to Hillsboro's Collin Rothwell as he finished in first place with a time of 18:18.8. His time was 40 seconds better than that of the second-place runner.
As a team, the Indians finished in sixth place, followed by McClain in eighth place. The winning team was Xenia Christian with 52 points. HHS finished with 169 points, and MHS had 188 points.
Nathan Boone came in 17th place with a time of 20:15.1 for the Indians, followed by DeAndre Steward, who finished in 29th with a time of 21:05. Other HHS runners included: Joe Beery (22:34), Guy Bailey (23:43), Corey Tinnel (23:51) and Brendan Eltzroth (24:32).
For the Tigers, their top finisher was Chris Eltman in 23rd with a time of 20:38. Isaiah Isaacs followed in 26th (20:47) and Jeremiah Savage came in 32nd (21:15). Other MHS runners included: Evan Onusko (21:40), Daniel Addington (23:44), Adomas Fabin (24:27) and Tristan Smith (24:53).
The Hillsboro girls cross-country team finished in fifth place overall at the Ambassador Classic at Legacy Campus.
Alissa Hauke finished in 12th place with a time of 24:22. She was followed by Hannah Opst in 13th place (24:26). Brittany Ferrell finished in 14th place with a time of 24:38.
Other HHS times included: Shelby Bobbitt (30:34), Kristina Stanfield (35:06) and Jennifer Smith (40:37).
For McClain, Sarah Davis finished in 28th place with a time of 26:18.
