Earlier in the week for Hillsboro, senior Austin Goolsby qualified for the state pole vault event for a third straight year, as last year as a junior he was the state champion and two seasons ago he was the state runner-up.

For Pitzer, who was a state qualifier one year ago as a junior, she raced in four events at regionals and finished three of them in the Top 4 to earn her return ticket to state.

In the 100m hurdles, Pitzer was second with a time of 15.37. In the 100m dash, Pitzer finished third for the Lady Tigers, and in the 300m hurdles event, the senior was second at 46.50 to qualify for a third state event.

Pitzer was sixth place in the regional 200m dash with a time of 26.90.

As for Stodgel, his throw in the shot put left him in fourth place to qualify for state. Stodgel finished with a distance of 51-03.50.

Others for Hillsboro and McClain also competed at regionals on Day 2, including McClain’s Kerigan Pollard in the 300m hurdles with a seventh-place finish at 48.28.

For Hillsboro, in the 400m dash, Ty Alexander was seventh place at regionals with a finals time of 52.29.

The Hillsboro boys 4x400m relay team of Tyler Workman, Britton Haines, Mark Gallimore and Alexander finished in eighth place at 3:34.69.

Hillsboro’s Quinn Conlon competed in the regional high jump but didn’t have an official height on a jump.
