An impressive crowd of Hillsboro and Paint Valley football fans converged on Richards Memorial Field Friday, Aug. 21 for the 2015 edition of the popular Fish Fry football scrimmage.
The game is the final preseason tuneup for both the Indians and the Bearcats.
A new-look Hillsboro offense – operating from the shotgun – scored first, when quarterback Hunter Chain fired a perfect spiral to receiver Ryan Hagan for a long TD. Freshman Deon Burns drilled the extra point beyond Elm Street.

As Hillsboro High School Athletic Director Dave Dietrick pointed out, the weather at game time was close to perfect for an August football game. Previous Fish Fry scrimmages have had temperatures in the mid-90s.
Dietrick and the high school staff did have concerns with a drone hovering over the field early in the scrimmage.
Dietrick said to his knowledge no one had contacted the school requesting information to operate a drone during the game. He said there are potential liability concerns and that the issue has been addressed by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
According to the OHSAA, it is the responsibility of each local school district to establish policies for the use of drones during home regular season contests (including previews and scrimmages) and practices.
The use of drones is prohibited for any purpose by any persons at OHSAA tournament contests.
Hillsboro will open its 2015 regular season at home vs. Western Brown on Friday, Aug. 28. Paint Valley opens on Thursday, Aug. 27 at Chillicothe High School against Fisher Catholic.
