The Hillsboro boys basketball team has reportedly found their next boys basketball varsity head coach, as Miles Burton has been recommended to the Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education for approval to become the 32nd varsity boys basketball head coach.

Hillsboro’s next school board meeting is scheduled for May 20.

Burton — who was introduced to the Hillsboro basketball team on Friday, May 10 — will be a first-time varsity head coach when he officially takes over the head coaching position, if approved by the Board of Education.

Burton has most recently been a varsity assistant coach at Goshen High School and is a Blanchester High School graduate.

Burton would take over for former head coach Bruce Miles, who was at the helm of the Indians for the past five seasons (12 years overall in the program), as he resigned April 1.

Hillsboro reached the sectional finals during the 2018-19 season, as they finished with 10 wins overall. The Indians won one postseason tournament game, that coming against the Miami Trace Panthers in the sectional semifinals, before losing to the Zane Trace Pioneers.

The Indians last won a conference championship during the 2011-12 season where they won a second consecutive South Central Ohio League title. (The league is now defunct.) That season was also the last winning record for the Indians, as they were 15-6 overall.
