McClain sweeps home swim meet over Hillsboro, Clinton-Massie

The McClain Tiger Sharks boys and girls swimming teams were winners on Monday evening at the McClain Natatorium, defeating both Hillsboro and Clinton-Massie in South Central Ohio League action.
MHS won the girls meet by scoring 125 points. Next were the Hillsboro Lady Indians at 59, Clinton-Massie 48 and Madison-Plains with 26 points.
"I was a little worried going into this swim meet because we were short a couple of our key swimmers, but the team stepped up and showed me I obviously had nothing to worry about," MHS girls swimming coach Katie Dettwiller said. "I was pleased to see swimmers continue to drop time in their events. We still have some things to work on, but we are definitely going in the right direction."
In the boys meet, MHS won with a final score of 114, followed by Clinton-Massie with 76 points and Hillsboro at 13 points.
"(Monday) with our numbers, compared to the others, was a good night. There's something special about these kids and the way they've come together," MHS boys swimming coach Bradley George said. "You saw how close some of these meets were. They're just doing good, and especially already being on Christmas break, to get them back in here and still have that is just a good night."
George also spoke about the team as they work their way to the SCOL tournament late in the season.
"We're right there on the verge. Clinton-Massie, there's some good races going, but the other side of the league, what Trace and Chillicothe has, is good, competitive racing," George said. "I cannot wait for the second half of the season, leading up to the SCOL meet, because it's going to be good. It's really been neat to watch them."
