The Hillsboro Lady Indians dominated the second game of their second match Monday night. With the help of 19 consecutive service points from Kerstin Thornburgh, the Lady Indians swept the visiting West Union Lady Dragons.

In what was a tri-match for the host Lady Indians, HHS won both games with West Union by scores of 25-14 and 25-3. The match they lost was against visiting Western Latham, with HHS winning game one at 26-24 but losing the next two at 25-22 and 25-20.

"This win was awesome, especially the second game," HHS head coach Nichole Dickey said. "Kerstin served 19 in a row. That doesn't happen often, especially at this level. She served 100-percent on the night, having 22 good serves. She did very well with her serves, but she also set the ball very well and had quite a few assists."

Western won their match vs. West Union in three games, including a 25-19 score in the third and match-deciding game.

As for the Lady Indians, in game one against the Lady Dragons, the score was tied early at 1-1 and 2-2, but from there, HHS never trailed for the remainder of the game as they built a 5-2 lead with points from Taylor Remsing and Emma Reno. Two of those points by Remsing were off aces.

"Taylor had a great night at the net," Dickey said. "She was just on, whether it was blocks or hitting. She hit 11 times, and nine were kills.

"Emma in the first game had nine nice serves."

Later, HHS held a 9-6 lead with an ace from Reno, followed later with a service point from Reno to give the Lady Indians a 12-6 advantage. A big spike at the net by Madison Snyder (who totaled 10 digs in the win) pushed the Lady Indians' lead to 17-7, and then the lead was at 19-9 following a point at the front of the net by Thornburgh.

"Maddie is just constant," Dickey said. "All the time, no matter where she plays, you know she's going to give you all she has. She had the highest percentage on serve receive."

HHS continued to lead the Lady Dragons with another point by Remsing, as she took control of the final part of the game, with HHS taking the game one win with the two final points coming off her serves for the 25-14 win.

In the second game against the Lady Dragons, it was all Hillsboro as the team was nearly perfect in their pursuit of defending their home court, winning that game by a 25-3 score.

HHS led 3-0 early on and eventually had a 9-1 advantage, which went to a 22-1 score following 19 consecutive points by the Lady Indians, with all the points being served up by Thornburgh. Within that scoring, Remsing and Sydney Bobbitt helped contribute to the scoring with points of their own.

The 20th point was scored off an ace by Thornburgh, and the 22nd point came via a big spike by Remsing, who had the ball set by Bobbitt. The game- and match-winning point came with a huge hit with authority from Corrine Ray. Also with points in the win over West Union was Emily Myers.

"Emily and Jordan (Williamson) passed well," Dickey said. "They allowed the setter to get everything set up. It was a good night. We have things we have to work on like everybody does, but I'm proud of them, they did a good job."
