A hat trick by Hillsboro senior Kaylee Achor, along with six more goals from her teammates, led to a season sweep for the Lady Indians against the visiting McClain Lady Tigers, Saturday by a 9-0 score.

The win by the Lady Indians (4-2, 6-3) came with four goals in the first half, followed by five more in the final 40 minutes.

"It was good to have the defense pitch a shutout," HHS head coach Jeremy Ratcliff said. "That's encouraging to have, and I saw better teamwork in terms of stringing passes together.

"The score looks similar (as their first match earlier in the week), but I was encouraged with what I saw in how we played as a team in this game."

As for the first half, HHS got things started with a goal from Trista Rhodes, with an assist by Kaylynn Bell with 33:45 left on the first-half clock.

Achor followed with her first of three goals at the 29:17 mark of the first, with an assist from Ashley Purtee. Achor's second goal of the match came with 23:20 left in the opening half with the net wide-open as the keeper was up in the box.

The fourth goal of the opening half came with 6:11 remaining with Riley Moberly putting the ball in the back of the net, with the assist from Achor. This was Moberly's second goal of the week, as she scored her first career varsity goal when the Lady Indians faced MHS at McClain Field.

In the second half, HHS scored five more times with Achor gaining the hat trick at 32:32, followed by Mallory Sluss at 23:25 for a six-goal lead.

From there, Rhodes scored her second goal (18:02), followed by Lindsay Ulicny making it an eight-goal lead with 13:35 left in the match.

The final HHS goal came with 9:10 by Hope Tira.

Bell finished the match a team-high three assists, while Madison Marsh also had an assist.

HHS keeper Carly Myer had one save.

"Mallory (Sluss), Jalyn Yochum and Carly did a good job defensively," Ratcliff said. "The defense is playing well, and it is easy to overlook as it may not show up in the scoring stats. The fact they are holding up as a unit is very positive."

Earlier in the week, HHS defeated the Lady Tigers, 9-1 at McClain Field.
