"We didn't look like we have been playing in the last three games," HHS head coach Krista George said. "We went prepared to play this game. We let them (MT) get a good start in the first inning and we just didn't hit the ball."
Miami Trace controlled the game from the start with a three-run first inning, followed with one run in each of the next two innings.
Then in the top of the fourth, the Lady Panthers pounded out a seven-run inning.
Olivia Mick, Taylor Stockwell, and Tiarra Perkins all scored in the first inning for MT, with Mick gaining a single.
In the second, Morris scored with the RBI going to Andrea Strahler. The score went to 3-0 with Carly Strayer doubling to reach the bases. She was brought home by Haley Hagler with an RBI base hit.
The scoring continued for the Lady Panthers with the aforementioned seven-run inning.
Stockwell doubled, followed with Strahler reaching on an infield error by HHS. With one out, Strayer walked and Hagler reached after being hit by a pitch. Also reaching in the inning was Danielle Thomas with an RBI single. Morris was hit by a pitch, followed with Mick doubling. The final MT hit was an RBI single by Stockwell, her second hit of the inning.
Scoring for the Lady Panthers in the fourth were Stockwell, Strahler, Strayer, Hagler, Thomas, Morris and Mick.
As for the Lady Indians, they gained two hits in the ball game with Jenni Middleton singling in the first and Savannah Reed gaining a base hit in the bottom of the fifth. Reed scored the only HHS run when Paij Shelton hit into a 6-4 out for the RBI.
The winning pitcher was Mick. The loss went to Kayla Rosselott.
"We just seemed like a different team," George said.
The loss drops HHS to 1-3 in the SCOL and 2-3 overall. MT jumps to 3-3 overall, 3-1 in league play.
