The Hillsboro Lady Indians gave a solid effort in their Frontier Athletic Conference match against the visiting Jackson Ironladies on Tuesday night, but after some close games and even winning a game, the Lady Indians dropped their home match by a 3-1 score.

Hillsboro won the third game of the match by a 25-18 score, but games one, two and four, those all went to Jackson by scores of 25-23, 25-25 and 25-12.

The Lady Indians’ best game was the one they were victorious in, starting off with a strong 4-0 lead, including a point from Jordan Williamson and Sydney Bobbitt at the net. As the third game continued, JHS eventually tied the score at 7-7, but HHS took advantage of an out-of-bounds hit by the visitors, leaving the Lady Indians back in the lead at 8-7. Hillsboro continued to score points, leading by a 20-12 score after Bobbitt had a kill against Jackson, forcing the Ironladies to call a timeout. From there, the Lady Indians added to their lead at 23-14 with the help of Bobbitt at the net and Loudin.

HHS eventually broke away and gained the game three victory by scoring three of the final points in the game.

Before that match, games one and two were very competitive as game one was tied a total of 11 times all the way from 2-2 up to 23-23. Jackson led early on with points off serves by Reaghann Folden, only to see HHS tie the first game at 4-4 with help from Bobbitt and Katie Condo.

Later, Gracie Dean of Hillsboro made it a 5-5 score, and Loudin tied the score at 6-6. An ace by Jackson’s Halle Hughes brought the score to a tied 10-10 contest with an ace. When the score was tied at 14-14, it was Hillsboro’s Bobbitt who made it a tied score, then HHS followed to take a 17-14 advantage.

JHS made it a tied score for the eighth time at 18-18, regaining the lead only to see the Lady Indians tie the score at 19-19. Hillsboro broke the tie this time for a 20-19 lead off help by Bobbitt and increased the lead to 22-19.

Jackson answered with points by Kylee Bako and Holly Sexton for a 22-22 score and later a one-point lead at 23-22 off an ace by Bako. Hillsboro tied the score at 23-23, but the Ironladies took the game one win with points by Sexton. Also helping the Lady Indians throughout the game three win was Kailey Dietrick.

The same competitiveness was the focal point in game two with JHS taking the early lead, only to have HHS tied the score at 5-5 off a kill by Bobbitt. Serves by Gracie Walburn helped the Ironladies to take the lead at 9-5, but HHS went on a bit of a rally to tie the match at 10-10. HHS took the lead with points by Loudin, Middleton and Bobbitt for a 14-10 advantage.

As game two continued JHS made the score 16-16, and the seesaw game two saw the score go to 20-20 and 23-23. Like they did in game one, JHS finished the second game with two straight points by Walburn and Abbey Munn for their second 25-23 win.

The fourth game, JHS took complete control for the most part, leading early at 8-1. HHS later made it a 16-10 score, but Jackson was too strong, completing the fourth game with eight consecutive points.

Hillsboro’s loss drops them to 4-10 overall and 0-7 in the FAC. Jackson improves to 6-9 overall and 4-3 in the FAC. Next for Jackson is an away match at Wellston on Sept. 26. The Lady Indians next play on Sept. 27 at home vs. Miami Trace in FAC action.
