Lady Indians end season against Circleville

     FRANKFORT - The Hillsboro Lady Indians led for a majority of their Division II SE District Sectional quarterfinal, but in the final frame their season came to an end as the Circleville Lady Tigers rallied from behind for a 49-43 victory at Adena High School.
    Hillsboro ends the season at 1-19 overall, with their victory coming against the London Lady Red Raiders.
    "We led until about 3:30 left in the fourth quarter,"Hillsboro head coach Herb Mihalik said. "We played not to lose instead of playing to win in the fourth quarter. Megan Barnes, Julie Shafer and Heather Storer played very well in the game."
    The Lady Indians led 13-11 after the first quarter, and came back with an 11-point effort in the second for a 24-21 lead after 16 minutes.
    In the third frame each team netted 11 points, but in the fourth quarter the Lady Tigers put up 17 points while holding HHS to eight.
    Barnes led HHS with 14 points, making four two-point baskets and two 3-pointers. Storer finished with 11 points, making four field goals and three free throws.
    Shafer wrapped up the game with six points, followed by Shelby Coyle, Annemarie Stamper and Jenni Willey each scoring four points.
    HHS was 7 of 13 from the free-throw line, making 17 total shots from the floor.
    Kalinoski led CHS with 13 points, she was followed by Steinhauser with 11.
    Six Hillsboro seniors playing their last game were: Paij Shelton, Shelby Coyle, Julie Shafer, Holly Royse, Megan Barnes and Heather Storer.
    "The coaching staff would like to thank all the seniors for their efforts during the last two years in the program," Mihalik said.
