Lady Indians earn sectional bowling championship

The Hillsboro Lady Indians had their sectional for Division I on Saturday, and once their day was complete, they were crowned as the champions.
Their day started out somewhat slow with a 820 first game, landing the ladies in 10th place after one game.
The girls came to life after that, scoring a 956 second game that shot them into first place after two games. From there, the Lady Indians never looked back, leading the rest of the day and winning the sectional tournament by 78 pins over second-place Briggs High School.
South Central Ohio League rival Chillicothe finished in 30th place. The top scorer for Hillsboro was senior Keely Bennington with a 592 series, and second was Madalyn Miller with a 551.

“We knew going into sectionals that we had to finish top 20 out of 39 schools there to advance to districts,” HHS coaches Shane Ison and Jeff Miller said. “However, our goal walking in was to make a statement and finish Top 5.
“Our boys had set the bar high for the ladies to match, and a sectional title is a great start. We have lots more work to do. We have to make some equipment adjustments to prepare our girls for drier lane conditions, but when we go to districts on Saturday, we will be ready to hopefully match the boys and bring home another title.”
