HILLSBORO — The Hillsboro Indians boys soccer team now have been victors in consecutive South Central Ohio League games this '11 season, defeating the Washington Blue Lions, 5-1 Thursday at Richards Memorial Field.
For their second straight game, the Indians had a slow start trailing the Blue Lions around the 20 minute mark of the first half at 1-0.
With around 10 minutes remaining in the opening half Hillsboro's Jordan O'Connor tied the game for the Tribe.
The second half was a completely different match according to HHS coach John Weber, as the Tribe scored four goals for the 5-1 win, as the half belonged to HHS senior Brandon Wilson.
Wilson earned a hat-trick, scoring three goals with two goals being assisted by senior midfielder Michael Theobold.
The fifth HHS goal came from freshman Trey Moberly.
"Just like at Miami Trace (Tuesday) we missed many shots, but I did like that fact we had possession of the ball for three-fourth's of the game," Weber said. "We passed the ball well … we didn't shoot well in the first half, but we shot much better in the second half, and played a strong game overall."
The Indians now stand at 2-0 overall and in the SCOL, and will travel to Unioto for their first non-league game of the season on Saturday.
