“I thought we handled adversity well in third quarter when we were down 12,” Hillsboro head coach Bruce Miles said. “We had a great crowd tonight, and we fed off their energy. Gavin Temple sparked us with his defensive pressure in third, and Josh Keets was a spark off the bench all night. Mason Swayne made some great decisions, and Ethan Watson made some huge shots down the stretch.
“Reece Bloomfield made a critical three late and did all the little things that won't go in the scorebook. Brad Miller did a great job defending their 6-8 kid and wasn't intimidated for a sophomore. This was a total team effort against a quality opponent and program in Georgetown.”
Hillsboro had three players score in double figures with Keets leading the way with 17 points. Keets totaled four two-point buckets, two 3-pointers and was 3-of-4 from the free-throw line in his season debut.
The senior, Keets, scored 10 of his total points in the second quarter, including one 3-pointer in that span of scoring. In the first frame, he scored four points, and in the third he made his second trifecta of the game.
Next in scoring was Watson with 16 points as he made four two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and was 2-for-2 from the free-throw line.
Also in double figures was Swayne with five two-point baskets, and he was 1-of-2 in his free-throw shooting.
Miller finished with eight points (four two-point baskets), Bloomfield with five points (including a fourth-quarter 3-pointer) and Luke Magulac with two points.
The Indians finished 6-of-10 from the free-throw line, while also totaling 19 two-point baskets and five 3-pointers.
Georgetown was led by Jackson Gregory with 14 points, Alex Bolington with 12 points and Noah Pack with 11 points.
The G-Men totaled 12 two-point buckets, six 3-pointers and they were 9-of-13 from the free-throw line.
Next for the Indians is a home game in Frontier Athletic Conference action, where they will host the Washington Blue Lions.
