Indians total 9 hits in win over Miami Trace

The Hillsboro Indians ended their long week of baseball, four games in four days, by earning a South Central Ohio League win Thursday evening by defeating the Miami Trace Panthers, 9-2.
The seven-run win at Shaffer Park capped off a week where in their past three games the Indians also defeated the Adena Warriors and the Clinton-Massie Falcons. On Thursday, the Indians collected nine runs in the SCOL game, and they did so with not only their hitting (they totaled nine base hits), but their pitching as well, as sophomore Colin Bullock took just 81 pitches to gain the complete game win.
Bullock allowed two runs, both earned (in the top of the seventh inning) on five hits and one walk. He finished with seven strikeouts, facing a total of 27 batters.

Hillsboro’s victory puts them at 8-8 overall on the year, and in SCOL play, the Indians are 6-4. This week, the Indians defeated a nine-win Adena team (non-league game) and a Clinton-Massie team who was previously undefeated in the league.
“Three good wins in a row, and at the plate we had some good discipline tonight, we hit the ball hard, and we brought up a freshman in Austin Harrison who hit the ball every time he was at the plate,” HHS head coach Tim Hunt said.
“Colin Bullock pitched well for us in his second outing as a sophomore. He was around the strike zone, and the defense behind him did their job. It was a good, clean game. Like I said before, things seems the be clicking for us, and we just build off it and keep on rolling.”
At the plate, Mason Stanley had three of the Indians' nine hits. The lead-off batter was 3-for-3 with two walks, one run and three RBIs.
Next in line was Austin Harrison, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. HHS had four players with one hit each in Jacob DeAtley, Wyatt Condo, Hunter Chain and Brian Smith. DeAtley had two RBIs, and Smith collected one RBI.
HHS also forced nine walks with Stanley, DeAtley and Jesse Walker each forcing two base-on-balls, while Condo, Jacob Helterbrand and Ryan Hagan each drew one walk.
The Indians are off for the next three days and will resume play on Monday as they face the Miami Trace Panthers at MTHS, followed by consecutive games against the Chillicothe Cavaliers, all three being SCOL games. Next Friday, the Indians will host McClain, which is also an SCOL game.
“When you are winning games, playing four games in a row like we have this week is a good thing,” Hunt said with a smile. “I was talking to Coach Miller about how we’ve not been able to get practices in, but we are learning during the games right now.”
