Both the Hillsboro boys and girls soccer teams had tough nights on Tuesday, with the Chillicothe Cavaliers visiting HHS and winning each match.

In the girls match, the Lady Cavs won by a 4-1 score, and in the nightcap, the Indians fell to Chillicothe, 6-2 as both matches counted in the South Central Ohio League standings.

The Lady Indians trailed by a 3-1 score at halftime of their match, with CHS jumping out to an early two-goal lead with 34:32 left in the first half. Both of the CHS goals to start the SCOL match were scored by Payten Davis, at the 37:20 and 34:32 marks of the first half.

"We knew Davis was good, and the early goals rattled us," HHS girls soccer coach Jeremy Ratcliff said. "We did a nice job of settling down and putting the one goal on the board. That was a big game in the league standings. We hadn't seen Chillicothe this season, and we are going to see them again next week.

"We knew they were undefeated, and it was a stiff test, but it was a good game for us. Those are the kinds of teams we'll see in the tournament, and we could very well see that team in the tournament. This was good for the younger players who haven't been in a tournament run before. Congratulations to Chillicothe, they had a well-played game."

Hillsboro's Hope Tira brought the Lady Indians to within one goal of the visitors with a goal at the 30:27 mark, but unfortunately for the Lady Indians, Chillicothe added another goal at the 4:18 mark of the first half, this one scored by Jayla Brown for the 3-1 CHS advantage.

In the second half, the Lady Cavaliers scored one final goal, as Kenzie Brown put the ball into the back of the net with 35:30 left in the match.

The loss moves HHS to 7-3-2 overall and 5-3-2 in the SCOL. CHS stays undefeated in the SCOL on the season with the win.

In the boys game, the Indians lost by four goals at 6-2 with CHS leading by  4-0 score at halftime. They added two more goals in the second half.

For the Indians, their second-half goals came from Spencer Brown and D.J. Brown. The win by the Cavaliers puts them in a first-place battle with the Wilmington Hurricane, Thursday, as a win by CHS would clinch the league title.

Both the Indians and Lady Indians will host the McClain Lady Tigers on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, the Hillsboro volleyball team lost in three sets at HHS. HHS lost by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-19.
