Hillsboro’s Austin Miller, Gary Vincent named Div. III Special Mention All-Ohio Football

The Hillsboro Indians this past season showed improvement in the win-loss column, and two of those reasons were from the play of seniors Austin Miller and Gary Vincent. The play from both Miller and Vincent earned them the honor of being named to the Associated Press Division III All-Ohio team by members of the media.
Miller and Vincent each earned special mention All-Ohio for their play on the offense and defensive line, respectively.
Vincent was named for his play on defense this season, as he played both linebacker and defensive end for the Indians.
“Gary was overall one of our best players this season,” HHS head coach Jack O’Rourke told The Highland County Press. “He was a leader in the weight room during the summer and overall did a great job in being a leader for our team.
“During the season, we asked him to move from linebacker to defensive end, and he never complained once. He was very solid, and he really filled in when we were struggling at defensive end. Again, he was one of the top leaders on the team.”

Miller played on the offensive line for the Indians, and his play led to many rushing touchdowns for the Indians, especially on trap plays as the Indians rushed for over 1,000 yards this past season.
“Austin was our top offensive lineman,” O’Rourke said. “He was our best trapper, and he led us throughout the season for blocks. He especially blocked well for [running back] Luke Gallimore with his trap blocks and was a steady performer and leader for the offensive line.”
O’Rourke knows he’ll have to replace both seniors next season, and his hope is the remaining juniors and underclassmen linemen learned from the two All-Ohio players.
“Those two were very important to the team and will be missed. I hope the rest of the offensive linemen learned from them,” he said. “I want them to keep the same attitude Austin and Gary had and take that into this offseason and into next year.
“Austin and Gary both set good examples for the program.”
Also since the end of the season, both Miller and Vincent were named to the All-South Central Ohio League team and were selected first-team AP All-SE District.
