All three sets were close for the Hillsboro Lady Indians Tuesday night at Hillsboro High School, but they were unable to defend their home court, falling to the visiting Clinton-Massie Lady Falcons in South Central Ohio League play.

The Lady Indians lost by scores of 26-24, 25-20 and 25-22 in the SCOL match, seeing their record move to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the league standings.

"The girls were moving tonight, but we struggled with serving, bottom line," HHS head coach Nichole Dickey said. "We had a lot of service errors. Once the girls clean up their serving errors, we see improvement, because the rest of their game is going well for them.

"We’ll keep working on our serving and see what our next games bring."

After losing a very close first set against CM, the second set saw HHS trail 10-7, but rally to tie the score at 10-10, and later the score in the second set was tied at 16, 17, 18 and 19.

For HHS in the second set, a tap at the top of the net by Madison Snyder gave the Lady Indians a 15-11 lead, and as the set continued, Taylor Remsing tied the score at 16. HHS again took the advantage at 19-18, but once CM tied the score at 19 points each, they never lost it again, eventually winning the second set by a five-point differential.

In set three, HHS took the early advantage with a 6-2 advantage with help from Sydney Bobbitt and Emma Reno by putting points on the board for the Lady Indians.

Later, HHS held a 9-7 lead with service points from Reno, but eventually CM tied the score at 9-9, and later took a 12-9 lead.

HHS battled back by tying the score at 12-12, and later the set was tied at 13, 14, 18, 19 and 20. In all, the score was tied eight times in the third and final set.

After Emily Myers of HHS broke the 19-19 tie to put the hosts in front, CM tied the score at 20 and outscored the Lady Indians 5-2 to win the set and match.
