Hillsboro tennis sweeps Unioto in opener

The Hillsboro Lady Indians girls tennis team opened their 2014 season at HHS on Wednesday by defeating the Unioto Lady Shermans in five straight matches in their nonleague matchup.
    
In first singles, junior Vanessa McGinnis won by scores of 6-3, 6-1 over Meghan Helton.
    
In second singles, junior Emily Shanahan won 6-3, 6-4, Kassadee Lechner, and in third singles, Lexii Sears defeated Brianna Schaeffer, 6-1, 6-0.
    
First doubles saw juniors Kaitlin Whiting and Bree Opst defeat Looper and Kearns, 6-0, 6-1.
    
In second doubles, the team of sophomore Erin Clark and senior Kacy Frederick defeated Warren and Matthews, 6-1, 6-1.[[In-content Ad]]
