The Hillsboro Lady Indians struggled to plate runs following the first inning on Thursday evening, as those struggles led to a 6-2 loss to the visiting Miami Trace Lady Panthers.

HHS scored their two runs in the bottom of the first inning as Kerstin Thornburgh and Hanna Breeden, both seniors, crossed home plate for what was a 2-1 lead after the first inning was completed.

From there on, the game belonged to the Lady Panthers, as a four-run second inning and one final run in top of the sixth led to the Hillsboro four-run loss.

Unofficially, the Lady Indians totaled six hits with Thornburgh, Madison Snyder, Emily Myers, Riley Moberly, Breeden and Lizzy Mahan all reaching the bases with a hit.

Breeden pitched in relief (entering the game in the fourth with HHS trailing 5-2) collecting 11 strikeouts. The loss was charged to Keely Bennington who started the game for Hillsboro.

The Lady Indians are off until Monday when they get back into SCOL action.
