Hillsboro, McClain qualify for 16 regional events with Division II SE District finishes

The Hillsboro Indians boys, plus the McClain boys and girls track and field teams, combined to qualify for 16 events at the upcoming Division II Regionals Track and Field Champions by placing in the Top 4 of the Division II SE District Track and Field Championships over a two-day event held in Washington C.H.

Hillsboro gained three individual district champions, with Austin Goolsby winning two. Goolsby won the long jump at 22-06.00 and pole vault at 15-06.00. Also winning a district championship was Jeremy Hayton with a height of 6-04.00.

McClain also had district champions, with Chayden Pitzer winning the 100m hurdles event with a time of 15.25. The second district championship went to the 4x200-meter relay team of Maddy Stegbauer, Hunter Scott, Ashley Hardesty and Pitzer with a time of 1:47.47 for a new district record.

The HHS boys 4x100m relay team of Austin Kimball, Hayton, Luke Gallimore and Goolsby were second at districts with a time of 44.46.

Also with a district runner-up finish was McClain’s Landree Gray in the 300m hurdles with a time of 41.51, and the Tigers had a second-place finish from Tristan Pitzer in the 200m dash with a time of 22.81.

The MHS girls were second in the finals of the 4x100m relay race with the team of Stegbauer, Scott, Hardesty and Chayden Pitzer finishing with a time of 51.25. In prelims, they set a district record at 51.07. Chayden Pitzer was also a district runner-up in the 200m dash at 25.87.

HHS had a third-place finish in the shot put event from Deon Burns with a distance of 44-02.25. The HHS 4x400m relay team of Austin Kimball, Britton Haines, Ty Alexander and Mark Gallimore placed fourth with a time of 3:37.86.

The MHS Tigers had Tristan Pitzer qualify for regionals in the 100m dash with a fourth-place finish of 11.33. Trevor Newkirk was fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 53.03 to move on to regionals.
