Hillsboro Indians pick up road win over Goshen Warriors

The Hillsboro Indians have snapped their seven-game losing streak away from their hometown, winning on the road at the home of the Goshen Warriors, 28-7 Friday night.
In their game against the Western Brown Broncos last week, the Indians (1-1) managed to score a late fourth-quarter touchdown, but they just couldn't stop the Broncos.
That wasn't the case in their Week 2 game, as the Indians scored twice in the first half and twice again in the second half for good measure, while holding the Warriors to just one touchdown in the first half and zero yards in the second half.
Toby Warrington scored the Indians' first touchdown on a quarterback sneak. Later in the first half, Latrell Haithcock scored a touchdown on a pass from Warrington.
In the second half, Jordan Mosley scored a 37-yard touchdown on a run. The final touchdown of the night was on a run by Cody Whaley.
Hillsboro kicker Ashley Purtee was 4-for-4 on PATs.
"I'm proud ... the kids' effort was great," Hillsboro head coach Matt Hodge said. "The kids have worked hard, and tonight they were rewarded with a 'W.'"
In the second half, the Indians' defense did not allow a first down and held Goshen to zero yards.
On the Hillsboro defense, Heith Brown had an interception in the second half.
"The kids played well on defense, and I'm extremely proud of how they overcame mistakes in the first half and held them to zero yards in the second half," Hodge said.
Hodge assessed the night overall by saying they were balanced on the offensive side of the ball.
"We were very balanced with the run and pass," Hodge said. "Toby hit multiple receivers, and Ryan LeMaster and Braden Wildey had some good catches. We ran the ball well, and that was due to the play of the offensive line.
"I'm just proud of the kids for overcoming mistakes. I don't think I could have said that last year. We are maturing as a football team, and now it's time to start getting ready for Week 3."
Last season, Goshen defeated HHS, 25-12.
Next week, the Indians will host their first home game of the season, as they will welcome a third consecutive SBAAC opponent to open the season, this time facing the Clermont Northeastern Rockets.
Clermont Northeastern fell to Amelia, 33-6 on Friday night.
