The rematch of the Hillsboro Indians against the McClain Tigers saw intense play like the first match earlier this week at McClain Field, but this time it had a different ending at the home of the Hillsboro Indians.
For the Indians on Saturday, they kept the Tigers from scoring a goal, though they did bounce in a goal for their opponent. In the meantime, the Indians used their intensity to lead to two goals of their own, and a 2-1 victory.
"It took a little while, but we are playing a lot better," HHS head coach John Weber said. "This game had the same intensity as the first time we played. We played with the same intensity, and not to take away from Greenfield, but I don't think they brought as much intensity (Saturday) as they did the first time we played.
"We had quality shots on goal in this game, and that can't be said for the first time we played."
This was also a South Central Ohio League win for HHS.
The only goal of the first half was the own goal by the Indians, which gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead after the first 40 minutes of play.
In the second half, the scoring belonged to the Indians, with Trey Moberly scoring with 28:22 left in the match, scoring off a rebound off a kick from Kobe Curtis, who gained the assist for the 1-1 score.
Nearly two minutes later the MHS defense had a bit of a lapse as the keeper was up in the box after making a save, but that left the net wide open, and it was Moberly who took advantage, scoring his second goal of the match.

"In years past in that span, we end up allowing goals and end up having the game end in a tie or we lose the game. That's the thing … we are starting to get over the hurdle and thinking we are going to win."
The second goal by Moberly was off a kick from about 15 yards out as he went past the defense of the Tigers with 26:27 left on the second half clock.
"I attribute this win to our hustle," Weber said. "We could have easily packed it in, and being that it is only our second win against a team with just now two losses … it is a move in the right direction.
"We can fight our way back to .500, but we need to play every game like we have the last two for the most part. We still have some brutal games left."
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-2 in the SCOL and 7-2 overall.
Weber also spoke highly of his defense.
"It was a solid game," he said. "We had two freshmen who started for three-quarters of the game and are growing every day. And D.J. (Brown) … he locks it up on defense, but he can still bring the ball and possess it to the middle, so he had an outstanding game."
In their game earlier this week, the Tigers defeated the Indians, 3-1 at McClain Field.
