LONDON - The London Lady Red Raiders evened up the season series against the Hillsboro Lady Indians, as they defeated HHS 61-52 Friday night at LHS.
London controlled the first half with a 17-9 first quarter and a 15-8 second frame to lead 32-17 after two quarters.
"London was very aggressive and physical in the first half, and we didn't respond to that type of play," HHS head coach Herb Mihalik said.
HHS played close to even with the Lady Red Raiders in the third quarter but lost the frame 18-17, and HHS took the fourth 18-11.
"We played some of our best basketball in the second half and we scored 35 points,' Mihalik said. "We had three sophomores play very well in the second half. Annemarie (Stamper) played very aggressive defense and Morgan (Price) and Carey Juillerat gave us good minutes on the defensive end and running our offense."
The Lady Indians had three players finish in double figures with Heather Storer finishing with a team-high 13 points. Annemarie Stamper scored 12 for the Lady Indians and Jenni Willey scored 10 points.
Morgan Price and Shelby Coyle each netted six points for HHS, followed by Megan Barnes with three and A.J. Sanders with two points.
London was led by Erin Miller with 24 points. Kayla Craiger earned 20 points in the win over HHS.
The Lady Indians trailed by 20 points and came as close as six points of tying the game in the second half.
The scheduled sectional game with Hillsboro and Circleville was postponed Monday and will be played on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. at Adena High School. HHS currently stands at 1-19 overall.
