Hillsboro scores included: Austin Bagshaw (38), Alex Vanzant (40), Jacob Deatley (42), Travis Wehrung (52), Cameron Reed (52) and Christian Green (52).

East Clinton had scores that included: John Blair (37), Paul Luttrell (39), Cole Jenkins (41), Austin Michael (46), Ethan Cornwall (47) and Wyatt Kessler (49).

"This was the first loss for us in the league this year, and it was an eye-opener," HHS head coach Dan Spidel said. "East Clinton usually plays well at Snow Hill, and that was the case on Thursday. We didn't play our best, and they were able to take advantage of that.

"If East Clinton plays that well in other SCOL matches, it will make things really interesting going into the tournament at the end of the year. We just have to play better and avoid scores of 45 or more."

The Indians are 8-1 in SCOL play and 8-2 overall in terms of events played.

That was East Clinton's first SCOL match to be completed this season since previous matches had been rained out.
