On Thursday, Feb. 9, the Hillsboro boys and girls varsity teams competed in the South Central Ohio League bowling tournament held at LeElla Lanes in Washington Court House, where both teams clinched league championships.
The Hillsboro Indians, sitting at a 10-2 record, had to finish above rival Clinton-Massie to take back-to-back championships. Hillsboro had a rough start, but as the night went on, nothing could stand between the Tribe and the title, finishing the three regular and two Baker game set with a 3,461. CM finished with a 3,299.

Hillsboro was led by senior Sajoun Jones with an 694 three-game series, followed by freshman Hayden Miller with a 630 and senior Tyler King with a 629.
“We came, we saw, we conquered,” HHS boys bowling head coach Shane Ison said.
The boys team will compete at sectionals on Friday, Feb. 17 in Chillicothe.
The girls win was just as dramatic, as the Lady Indians came out firing. The girls team shot an amazing 1,019 first game, beating every team in the house, including the boys side.
As the night went on, scores went down, but the Lady Indians were so far ahead of every team, it was too late. Hillsboro finished with a score of 2,948 for the set, beating second-place Washington at 2,777.
Leading the Lady Indians was junior Aleigha Tarbutton with a 595, followed by senior Alexis Bailey with a 563 series.
“It was a great night for the program, to say the least,” HHS girls bowling head coach Jeff Miller said. “We have worked hard all year to get to where we are now.
“It’s nice to take a quick bow, but it has to be short-lived as we have work to do getting ready for a chance at the big show. We are very proud of our teams. We have to keep our foot on the gas and not let up now. We have everyone talking now, and they will come at us with everything they have, so we have to be ready to do the same”
The Lady Indians will compete at sectionals on Friday, Feb. 24 in Columbus.
Named to the All-SCOL first team were:
• Indians: Sajoun Jones (senior), Tyler King (senior).
• Lady Indians: Alexis Bailey (senior), Mary Herman (junior), Madalyn Miller (junior), Aleigha Tarbutton (junior)
All-SCOL second team honors went to freshman Hayden Miller and sophomore Brook Kier.
