On Jan. 30, the Hillsboro bowling teams hosted senior night at Highland Lanes during their match against Clinton-Massie, McClain and Lynchburg-Clay.

The seniors for all of the teams were walked along the lanes with their parents and presented gifts in front of a packed house for the match. Sajoun Jones, Tyler King and Hunter Lowe of the Indians team and Alexis Bailey of the Lady Indians team played their final home match for Hillsboro.

The match was a win for Hillsboro varsity boys and girls. For the Indians, the match ended with Hillsboro winning with a score of 2,435, led by senior Tyler King with a 409 for two games over SCOL rival Clinton-Massie, who finished with a score of 2,356. McClain came in third with a total score of 2,179.

The win put the boys varsity with a league-leading 10-2 record in the SCOL.

The Lady Indians mowed down the opposition with a 2,329 final score, beating the second-place McClain by over 900 pins. Third place went to Clinton-Massie with a 946. The Tribe was led by senior Alexis Bailey with a 425 series in two games.

This win leaves the girls varsity team with a perfect 12-0 record for the SCOL, with only the SCOL tournament to go in the league.

“We are not ready so say goodbye to our seniors yet,” coaches Jeff Miller, Shane Ison, Cathy Rhoads and Jaxsun Miller said in a joint press release. “We have a lot of work to do and some important tournaments to focus on at this point. Yes, we have had a good season so far but have a difficult road ahead of us.

“We always think of our seniors on every match, like wow, that's the last time he or she will be there with us. We work so hard and try to pay attention to every little thing to give our athletes every opportunity to excel in our great sport. The thing we are working so hard for is for that opportunity to see the look in our seniors’ eyes when they qualify for the state tournament. We will focus on our SCOL tournament and then shift to sectionals and hopefully a district appearance. We have the talent to win.”
