HHS track athletes advance to regionals

The Hillsboro High School varsity track teams traveled to Marietta on Thursday, May 22 to compete in the Division I Southeast District meet.

Athletes that earned a first through fourth place finish will be advancing to regionals which will be held at Pickerington Central High School on Wednesday, May 28 and Friday, May 30.

For the HHS girls, the 4x200-meter relay team of Allison Goolsby, Brittney Brown, Erin Hagan and Megan Overberg placed first with a time of 1:50.88, for a trip to the regional tournament.

Overberg also placed first in the 400m dash, an event for which she qualified for the state tournament last year, with a time of 1:00.20.

Goolsby was third in the 300m hurdles at 51.19.

The 4x100m relay team of Goolsby, Brown, Hope Tira and Hagan placed third with a time of 54.29.

Hillsboro's 4x400m relay team of Lillian Van Zant, Mallory Overberg, Hagan and Megan Overberg finished first with a time of 4:14.51.

For the HHS boys, Mackenzie Conlon qualified for two individual events for regionals, finishing with a second-place time in the 110m hurdles at 16.02 and a first-place time of 41.67 in the 300m hurdles.

De-Andre Steward was third in the 1600m run at 4:47.19 and third in the 3200m run at 10:38.22. Zach Middleton also qualified for the regionals in the 3200m runs with a time of 10:38.28 (fourth place).

Gabriel Tamborski was fourth in the 400m dash at 53.95.

The HHS boys 4x400m relay team of Braden Wildey, Conlon, Luke Gallimore and Tamborski were fourth with a time of 3:38.40.

• 4x100M Relay (3rd) – Allison Goolsby, Brittney Brown, Hope Tira, Erin Hagan – 54.29

• 400M Dash (1st) – Megan Overberg – 1:00.20

• 300M Hurdles (3rd) – Allison Goolsby – 51.19

• 800M Run (5th) – Lillian Van Zant – 2:38.13, (6th) Hannah Opst – 2:39.76

• 3200M Run (8th) Alissa Hauke – 13:16.48

• 4x400M Relay (1st) Lillian Van Zant, Mallory Overberg, Erin Hagan, Megan Overberg – 4:14.51
