HHS ends regular season with 1st SCOL win

HILLSBORO — The final South Central Ohio League and regular season game of the season proved to be the time where the Hillsboro Lady Indians gained their first league win of the 2010-11 campaign.

On Senior Night, HHS defeated SCOL foe London, 45-38 at Hillsboro High School, Saturday night for their first league win of the year.

HHS ends the regular season at 4-16 overall, their best overall record since the 2006-07 season. The five seniors honored were A.J. Sanders, Jenni Willey, Monique Burns, Brooke Shafer, and Maggie Tamborski.

Leading in scoring for HHS was Willey with 21 points. Willey made seven two-point baskets and was 7-of-9 from the free-throw line. Willey had a double-double with 12 rebounds.

Taylor Moberly finished with eight points, followed with seven points each from Carey Juillerat and Sanders. Juillerat made three free throws and two two-point baskets, and Sanders was 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. Danielle Gillman rounded out the HHS scoring with two points.

For the game, HHS was 20-of-35 from the free-throw line. Moberly made the only 3-pointer for HHS. Moberly led HHS with three assists. Burns had three steals, leading HHS.

London was led by Miller with a game-high 22 points, making six 3-pointers.

LHS led after the first frame at 16-12, and 29-19 at halftime. LHS outscored HHS 13-7 in the second quarter.

In the third, the Lady Indians held London to two points while they tallied nine. HHS controlled the fourth quarter with 17 points, holding LHS to seven.

HHS finishes 1-11 in the SCOL.

The Lady Indians will play again on Monday, Feb. 14 in the SE District Division II Sectional Tournament when they will face Waverly at 7 p.m. HHS will be a No. 8 seed and Waverly is a No. 9 seed.[[In-content Ad]]
