HHS bowlers advance to districts

On Friday, Feb. 27, the Hillsboro Lady Indians qualified fifth out of 34 teams. The Lady Indians scored 3,732 total pins – only 20 pins away from being in the top four.
The top scorer for Hillsboro was Keely Bennington, who had a 610 series, averaging 203 for the day. The second-highest HHS bowler was Alexis Bailey with a 599 series.
"The girls have never made it out of sectionals in our history," said Coach Jeff Miller. "The girls have worked hard all year long. Coaches Ison and Rhoads feel as I do that the girls have more than they have even showed at this point. If they rise to the occasion, they will do something special."

On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Hillsboro Indians bowling team competed. They were paired with Marion Harding High School. One of their boys had bowled a perfect game of 300 and another boy the same game shot a 253, Coach Miller said.
"Even in the face of such big numbers, we beat them that game by 10 pins. We led the sectional through most of individuals. After the six baker games, we ended up in third place out of 40 Division I schools."
The top scorer for the HHS boys was Sajoun Jones with a 731 series, as well with a 288 single game. Second for the Indians was team captain Jaxsun Miller with a 644 series.
Both squads now advance to the district competition in Columbus on March 4 at 11 a.m.
"I really like our chances for a state appearance for both teams," Coach Miller said.
