Hillsboro High School graduate Austin Goolsby was honored by the American Athletic Conference as Player of the Week, according to press releases from the AAC and the University of Cincinnati.

For the second time this season, three members of the University of Cincinnati track & field program earned American Athletic Conference Player of the Week accolades.

Ellie Leather was named the AAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, Aaron Bienenfeld was tabbed as the AAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Goolsby earned AAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week. This marks the first weekly awards for these athletes this season.

Goolsby, a redshirt sophomore at UC, posted a new personal best at the H-Town SpeedCity series with a mark of 5.08m (16-8.00) in the men's pole vault. This mark puts Goolsby in the UC record books, sharing the No. 6 spot with a Shane Shockey, who has held his spot since 2009.

According to the AAC, Goolsby tied for the best showing in the pole vault at the event, which was the second-best clearance in the conference this season.

Goolsby also climbed into the NCAA Top 50 with a national ranking of No. 43.

The Bearcats are back in action next weekend, traveling north to Stile Fieldhouse to compete in the Al Campbell Invitational on Feb. 19 in Akron.
