Cumberland named to USCAA All-American

SSCC sophomore Tirrell Cumberland was named to the Division I United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American team.
     Cumberland, a graduate of Hillsboro High School, earned honorable mention honors for his 2009-10 season.
     He was first in scoring in the USCAA with 893 points for an season average of 33.07 per game in 27 games played.
     In 3-point shooting percentage, Cumberland was second in the nation at .508 percent, going 120 of 236 from beyond the arc.
     Cumberland ranked second in free throw shooting percentage at .851 percent. He  was 240 of 282.
     The sophomore opened the season with a 47-point effort at the Patriot Center against Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. In that game, Cumberland made six 3-pointers and scored 23 points in the first half. From the free-throw line vs. WPAFB, he was 11 of 13.
     That game, along with first-week games against Edison Community College and Cedarville earned Cumberland USCAA Division I Player of the Week honors.
     Following the game against WPAFB, the forward scored 21 vs. ECC and 43 against Cedarville.
     Cumberland, described as the "Iceman" over the PA System during games, scored 1,500-plus points for the Patriots in two seasons.[[In-content Ad]]
