The Hillsboro Indians have added another Division I collegiate athlete to their list in school history with senior Austin Bagshaw signing his National Letter of Intent to play golf for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.

Bagshaw signed the letter on Thursday evening at HHS in front of family, friends and school administrators.

"The process of being recruited began the summer of my junior year and with Brad Spaulding helping me with a resume and swing video," Bagshaw said. "After sending out that to coaches, it was the process of elimination."

EKU is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).

Choosing to play collegiate golf at EKU was a decision Bagshaw is comfortable with and excited about.

"I like the mid-size school, and to be able to take advantage of the golf courses and facilities they have and have access to will be amazing," he said. "I also liked the coaches at the school, and that helped me make this decision."

The Hillsboro senior, who has also played varsity basketball for the Indians, wanted to say "thank you" to those who have helped him along the way.

"I have to thank my parents for everything they've done for me," Bagshaw said. "They've taken me everywhere for tournaments and have spent a lot of time doing so.

"Also, my brother (Blake) has pushed me on the golf course. I also have to say thanks to the rest of my family, coaches and my friends for their support."

This past season, Bagshaw was 10th overall in the Division I District tournament.

For the season, Bagshaw was the South Central Ohio League individual champion. Bagshaw was a four-time All-SCOL golfer.

Bagshaw played in the district tournament three years, including the Division II SE tournament in '12 and last year at the Division I District tournament at the Apple Valley Golf Course.
