Four members of Hillsboro’s regional-qualifying baseball team recently earned postseason honors for their work inside the classroom, with three seniors and a junior named to the All-Southeast District Academic Baseball Team.

Seniors Coltin Hunter, Brad Miller and Ryan Scott and junior Quintin Captain each received All-District Academic honors. In addition, Hunter and Miller were also named to the All-Ohio Academic Baseball Team.

“We couldn’t be more proud of these guys for the effort they give in the classroom on top of the high demands we have for them on the field,” Hillsboro head baseball coach Matt Garman said. “There are far more opportunities in the classroom than on the field, and as a program we take being a student-athlete very seriously. These four have gone above and beyond, especially Brad and Coltin, to set themselves up for success after baseball, whenever that is.

“The entire coaching staff congratulates Brad, Coltin, Ryan and Quintin for their accomplishments in the classroom and thanks them for doing it the right way and for being sterling ambassadors for our program.”

Hillsboro is set to face St. Clairsville in the regional semifinal Thursday, June 3 at 5 p.m. at Teays Valley High School.
